Terms of service
By using kov you agree to these terms. They describe what we offer, what we expect, and what either side can do if things go sideways. We’ve written them without legalese so you can actually read them.
The service
kov is a workspace product: a block editor, a whiteboard, and a set of collaboration features that run on the web, on macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We’ll do our best to give notice when that affects something you depend on.
kov is in early access. Expect things to change. Expect occasional breakage. We’re not running a finished product yet; your participation helps us shape one.
Your account
You’re responsible for your account credentials and for everything done under your account. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, email us so we can lock it.
You can stop using kov at any time. To fully delete your account and data, email neelbansalx@gmail.com. See the privacy policy for what that removes.
Your content
You own what you create in kov. Putting content into kov gives us a limited licence to store it, transmit it across your devices and collaborators, and back it up, only as much as we need to actually run the product. We don’t use your content to train AI models. We don’t sell it.
You’re responsible for what you put in. Don’t use kov to host content that’s illegal, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that you don’t have permission to upload.
Acceptable use
Don’t use kov to attack our systems, to attack someone else’s systems, to impersonate people, to send spam, to mine cryptocurrency, or to do anything that violates the law in your jurisdiction or ours.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. If we do, we’ll try to give you a chance to export your data first unless the violation is severe enough that we can’t.
Payment
kov is free during early access. When paid plans launch, current users get clear notice and a path to keep using the product, either on a paid plan or with the free tier we end up offering. Student pricing is being worked out so any student can use kov.
Availability
We aim for kov to be available, but we don’t promise zero downtime. Things break. We’ll work to fix them. If a long outage affects you materially, email us and we’ll figure something out.
Disclaimers and liability
kov is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs. To the maximum extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages: lost profits, lost data, business interruption, and so on.
We will, in practice, try really hard to not lose your data, but you should keep your own backups of anything critical.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update the date at the top when these terms change. Substantive changes will also be announced via email to registered users. Continuing to use kov after an update means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California.
